Keeping an acne free face can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. The best thing you can do to avoid getting acne in first place is to adhere to a strict face cleansing regime and not do anything to irritate the skin and make your existing acne worse.
The first thing recommended for an acne free face is to stop using oil based products on your hair. Not only do they contain potentially pore clogging oils, many beauty products also contain a wide range of chemicals that can seriously aggravate your skin and make any acne you already have look much worse. When you perspire, all that stuff runs down from your hair onto your skin. Try using water based products that use the least amount of ingredients and avoid anything that has a long list of chemicals in its ingredients that you don’t recognize.
Another common mistake is over using cosmetics to cover up blemishes. While it may cover up that pimple, you are potentially creating a bigger problem that could lead to infection or cause that small blemish to become a big pimple and take much longer to go away than if you just left it alone.
The biggest mistake people make is trying to pick or scratch at a pimple with their hands or a needle. Not only will this most likely leave you with unsightly scars after the acne goes away but can also introduce undesirable micro-organism to your skin which can lead to further acne break outs and irritate your skin making it look red and inflamed.
When cleaning your face, it’s best to avoid perfume and scented cleansers. Scented cleansers provide a nice smell, but they don’t offer you any real benefit and may contain additional chemicals or products that can irritate your skin. The best cleansers for your face should be water soluble and soap free. Non water soluble cleansers can lead to a variety of problems such as leaving excess residue on your face and soap has a tendency to dry out your skin. Also if use an alcohol based face wash or toner, try to limit its use or alternate between days when using it as it can be harsh on your skin.
The skin on your face is very sensitive and delicate. A lot of bad acne is made much worse by people touching it too much or using harsh chemicals. By keeping your face clean with gentle cleansers, and avoiding the common mistakes, you will be surprised at what a difference it can make. Some people will obviously need to take other action for more serious acne but for most people who deal with light to moderate acne, these steps will help you keep an acne free face.
